Institutionalize IKEA - Sleepy Hollow

IKEA pieces have been used in institutional settings on numerous shows including Seattle Grace Hospital and Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow finds Captain Irving continuing his fight against evil in the Tarrytown Psychiatric Institute.

So far I've only spotted the BJURSTA table.

BJURSTA tables can be seen here in the common room (episode 3)

and below in the library (episode 4).

I expect we'll be seeing more of Tarrytown Psychiatric as the season goes on.

That's a pretty dark bright side. - Sleepy Hollow

Last week was very windy and rainy here in New England. What better way to spend those autumnal evenings then by binge watching Sleepy Hollow.

I plowed straight through season 1 to catch up to where season 2 left off this week. There are inaccuracies and inconsistencies but I'll keep watching as long as Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane continue to be a sassy, platonic, evil fighting dynamic duo .

In the season 1 finale Abbi finds herself trapped in Purgatory but stumbles upon a refuge in the manifestation of her childhood dollhouse. I love the saturated colors and the playful feel of this set. You could guess the setting before it was revealed to Abbi. The art department really out did themselves.

Along the main hallway there are several glossy red EXPEDIT ( or KALLAX) bookcases with red insert doors. I love the painted book inserts and wish that was something IKEA actually sold.

A red and pink MAMMUT cupboard is in the corner. This piece, and the other 2 MAMMUT pieces below, seem to have been phased out since this episode was filmed. I can no longer find them on the US IKEA site.

Further down the hall more EXPEDIT (KALLAX) bookcases and a black/gray LAMPAN on top. In the lower left corner of the image you can make out a red and pink MAMMUT dresser. (Click the image to make it larger.)

Finally a blue MAMMUT cupboard. I love the over-sized curves. They look so friendly and childlike.

The episode ends with Abbi looking out from the dollhouse. The good thing with binge watching is that you don't have to wait months to find out what happens next. On to the next episode!
